Portable Air Conditioner Servicing, Deep Cleaning & Repairs

Professional servicing and internal cleaning for portable air conditioners used in homes, offices, salons, clinics, treatment rooms and other small commercial premises.

Based in Portsmouth, we provide workshop servicing, mobile appointments and scheduled collection options, subject to location and demand.

Does your portable air conditioner smell?

Portable air conditioners can accumulate dust, moisture and contamination internally, particularly when they have been used regularly or stored for long periods.

Cleaning the removable filters is important, but it may not remove dirt and organic build-up from deeper inside the appliance. Contamination can collect on the evaporator coil, condenser, fan, air passages and condensate system, resulting in musty smells and reduced performance.

A professional internal clean can help restore the condition of the appliance and improve the quality of the air passing through it.

Common portable air-conditioner problems

Your portable air conditioner may benefit from professional attention if you have noticed:

· Musty, damp or stale smells

· Visible dust, dirt or mould inside the unit

· Reduced airflow

· Poor cooling performance

· Water leaking from the appliance

· Unusual noise or vibration

· The unit switching off unexpectedly

· A fault code appearing

· The appliance not switching on

· Contamination that cannot be reached through normal filter cleaning

· An appliance that has been stored for a long period

What does the service include?

The exact service will depend on the design, condition and accessibility of the appliance. Where possible, the service may include:

· Initial inspection and operational test

· Inspection and cleaning of the removable air filters

· Removal of the outer casing where the appliance allows

· Inspection of the evaporator and condenser coils

· Cleaning of accessible internal coils

· Cleaning of accessible fan components and air passages

· Inspection and cleaning of the condensate tray and drainage system

· Removal of accessible dust, dirt and organic build-up

· Cleaning of external surfaces and air grilles

· Reassembly and final operational test

· Air-temperature and performance checks

· Advice on operation, drainage and storage

Portable air conditioners vary considerably in their construction. Some appliances can be dismantled and cleaned thoroughly, while others provide limited access to internal components.

We will assess the unit and explain what can safely and practically be achieved before carrying out the work.

Portable air-conditioner fault assessment and repairs

We can also assess portable air conditioners that are:

· Completely unresponsive

· Not producing cold air

· Leaking water

· Making unusual noises

· Displaying a fault code

· Switching off during operation

Whether a repair is practical will depend on the cause of the fault, the condition and value of the appliance, and the availability of replacement parts.

Components for some older or lower-cost portable air conditioners can be difficult to obtain. We will provide an honest assessment and will not recommend repairs that are unlikely to be economical.

A successful repair cannot be guaranteed until the appliance has been inspected and the fault diagnosed.

Portable air-conditioner brands

We can assess many common portable air-conditioning brands, including:

· Meaco

· EcoAir

· De'Longhi

· AEG

· Igenix

· Icycool

· electriQ

· Pro Breeze

· Challenge

· Other domestic and light-commercial brands

Please send us the manufacturer, model number, photographs and a brief description of the problem before booking. This allows us to check whether the appliance is likely to be serviceable.

Drop-off, mobile servicing and collection options

Depending on your location and the number of appliances involved, we may offer one of the following options.

Workshop drop-off

Portable air conditioners can be brought to us in Portsmouth by prior appointment.

Workshop drop-off is generally the most cost-effective option for an individual appliance and allows additional time for dismantling, cleaning, testing and drying where required.

Please contact us before travelling.

Mobile servicing

Mobile servicing may be available at your home or business, provided there is a suitable area where the appliance can be safely dismantled and cleaned.

Travel charges and minimum booking values may apply depending on your location.

Scheduled collection and return

We are registering interest for scheduled collection and return routes in areas where there is sufficient demand, including South London.

Where enough bookings can be grouped within the same area, appliances may be collected, serviced at our workshop and returned on an agreed date.

Please send us your postcode and appliance details to register your interest. We will confirm availability once a suitable collection route has been arranged.

Multiple appliances and commercial bookings

If you have two or more portable air conditioners, please contact us for a tailored quotation.

Multiple appliances can normally be serviced more economically during the same visit or collection. This service may be particularly useful for:

· Offices

· Salons and barbers

· Clinics and treatment rooms

· Landlords and managing agents

· Care and childcare settings

· Small shops and commercial premises

Multiple portable air conditioners being serviced

Is your portable air conditioner worth servicing?

Servicing can be worthwhile when an appliance is otherwise operating correctly but has developed an unpleasant smell, restricted airflow, visible contamination or reduced performance.

For older appliances with significant electrical or refrigeration faults, replacement may sometimes be more economical than repair. We will be straightforward about the likely cost and practicality before recommending further work.

Request an assessment or quotation

To help us assess your portable air conditioner, please provide:

· Your name

· Your postcode

· The number of appliances

· The manufacturer and model number

· The approximate age of each appliance

· A description of the smell, fault or performance problem

· Photographs of the front and rear of the appliance

· A clear photograph of the model-information label

· Whether you require drop-off, mobile servicing or collection

Once we have reviewed the information, we will advise which servicing option is likely to be most practical.

Frequently asked questions

Can you remove a musty smell from my portable air conditioner?

Musty smells are frequently caused by moisture and contamination collecting on internal components or within the condensate system.

A thorough internal clean can significantly improve the condition of the appliance. However, results will depend on its construction and the extent of the contamination.

I have cleaned the filters, but the unit still smells. Why?

The removable filters only protect part of the appliance. Dust and moisture can still collect on the internal coils, fan, air passages and condensate tray.

These areas normally cannot be reached without removing the outer casing and partially dismantling the appliance.

Do you repair portable air conditioners?

We can inspect and diagnose many common faults. Whether a repair is practical will depend on the cause of the fault and whether suitable replacement parts are available.

Can you recharge the refrigerant?

A loss of refrigerant normally indicates that the appliance has developed a leak.

The unit must be assessed before any refrigeration work is considered. Because of the construction and value of some portable appliances, refrigerant repairs are not always economically viable.

Can I bring the appliance to you?

Yes. Workshop drop-off in Portsmouth is available by prior arrangement. Please contact us before travelling.

Do you offer mobile servicing?

Mobile servicing may be available depending on your location, the number of appliances and the availability of a suitable working area.

A travel charge or minimum booking value may apply.

Do you cover London?

We are registering interest for scheduled portable air-conditioner collection and servicing routes in South London.

Where enough bookings can be grouped within the same area, we may arrange collection, workshop servicing and return of the appliances. Dedicated visits may also be considered for multiple-unit or commercial bookings.

Please send us your postcode and appliance details so we can advise what options are available.

Can you service more than one unit?

Yes. We welcome multiple-appliance bookings from households, businesses, landlords and managing agents. Servicing several units together will normally be more cost-effective than arranging individual visits.
